About the Search

The current Superintendent of Creswell School District, Mike Johnson, will retire from the district at the end of this academic year. The board and community is thankful for his dedicated service and leadership.

The Creswell School District Board of Directors is excited to announce that Amy Aguero has been selected as the next Superintendent of Creswell School District. Ms. Aguero will officially begin serving in this role on July 1.

The Board is confident in Ms. Aguero’s leadership and her deep commitment to the Creswell community. She has been an instrumental leader in Creswell’s progress and has helped advance key work during Superintendent Johnson’s tenure. We are excited for her to continue that momentum as she steps into the superintendent role,

Ms. Aguero has served Creswell School District since 2019 as Director of Student Services and brings more than 20 years of experience in education, including service as a classroom teacher, school administrator, and district-level leader. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting students, staff, and families in her role as Director of Student Services,

Creswell School District Board Enters Contract Negotiations with Amy Aguero for Superintendent Position

The Creswell School District Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has entered into contract negotiations with Amy Aguero for the position of Superintendent of Creswell School District.

Ms. Aguero has served Creswell School District since 2019 as Director of Student Services and brings more than two decades of experience in education, including service as a teacher and both school and district-level administrator. During her time in Creswell, she has helped lead districtwide initiatives supporting student success, strengthened partnerships with families and community organizations, and led curriculum adoption.

Her leadership has included oversight of student services programs, coordination of major grant initiatives, and collaboration with regional partners such as Lane ESD and local service agencies.

The board chose Ms. Aguero after a comprehensive search and multiple interviews. Ms. Aguero was among an impressive pool of candidates but was selected as the lead candidate because of her experience in leadership, commitment to Creswell and her strong focus on academic achievement.

Creswell School District Superintendent Search Frequently Asked Questions

Selecting a new Superintendent is one of the most important decisions a school board can make. The Creswell School District Board of Directors is committed to finding the right leader for our students, staff and community. The board has chosen to hire a search consultant to help plan the process and conduct a search for our next superintendent.  After researching and talking to several firms, the Board selected Human Capital Enterprises to lead the board in a comprehensive recruitment process. Our goal is to have a new superintendent selected in April.

How does the search process work?

The Board is working with Human Capital Enterprises to conduct a thorough search The Board will seek, receive, and review input from the community through focus groups and the online survey review all candidate applications; interview candidates determined by the Board; and select the new Superintendent.

When will the new Superintendent be hired?

The Board has set a timeline to recruit, interview, and hire the new Superintendent of Schools to be announced in April. The new superintendent will begin their term on July 1, 2026.

How and when do parents and other education partners weigh-in?

The Board is  soliciting  public input on the characteristics, experience, and skills desired in the next superintendent through an online survey and in-person focus group sessions. There will be a chance for staff, students, parents and community to be part of a confidential community interview panel to interview the finalists and provide input to the board. Panel members will be selected by lottery and we will seek interested participants in January 2026.

When will the District share the collected input with the public?

All information gathered through focus groups and the Superintendent Search Survey will be compiled, summarized, and incorporated into the “Next Superintendent Criteria”The draft of the Next Superintent Criteria will be presented to the Creswell board of directors on January 14, 2026

Who will make the final selection?

By law, the Board is solely responsible for hiring the new Superintendent, The Board will seek, receive, and consider all input from the community, review all applications, interview those candidates determined by the Board, and select the new Superintendent.

Can we find out who is applying?

All application materials, including the names of applicants and any other personally identifiable information, are confidential.

How can the public follow this process?
