Public Employees Retirement System

Following an initial six-month waiting period, employees in qualifying positions become members of the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).

The District will pay the six percent (6%) employee contribution to PERS.

The Individual Account Program or IAP is your retirement account, employees in a qualifying position are enrolled automatically. 1212 [PERS PU] deduction is the only contribution that goes to your specific retirement account (Individual Account Program or IAP), you will see this listed on your paystub.

1211 [PERS Tier 1/Tier 2] or 1210 [PERS OPSRP] along with 1221 [PERS UAL Bond] are deductions paid by the district, based on your wages, but do not go into your individual account. This contribution becomes part of the PERS general fund to pay for current and future retirement benefits, administrative costs, disability claims, and for accounts that exceed life expectancy timelines.
