Home » Senior Information on Graduation / Awards Night

Dear Seniors and Families –

We wanted to provide you with some updated information regarding end of the year events and graduation. We have been working hard to celebrate and recognize our seniors due the current circumstances. We have some information that we are prepared to share that is important for you to be aware of, and would highly encourage you to participate in all of the events coming.
May 21st – Graduation Material Distribution – First, we will be handing out graduation robes, caps and gowns on May 21st from 1Pm-3PM in the school parking lot. If you decided to rent graduation items from Miners instead of purchasing them, they have graciously decided to donate them to you. You will not be required to return them. So we need all seniors to come pick up their items. Once you arrive, you will be directed how to receive your items for graduation. We would ask seniors to bring a copy (drawing, picture, etc) of how they would like to design their mortar caps, as traditionally done. You will show that to one of the administrators present during your cap/gown pick up. Unfortunately, if you come to the graduation walk for your diploma with a mortar cap that has not been approved, you will be provided one that has nothing on it. We will also distribute any academic, club and/or activity chords during this time as well, so you may wear them for the graduation walk.
May 28th – Senior Awards and Scholarship Evening – This will be a virtual Zoom awards evening. You will be sent a link the night prior through email so you can attend. We would ask you to only share it with your immediate family, as we will need to monitor all those attending, due to security. This event will start at 6:00pm and will go hopefully no more than an hour or so.
Receiving Diploma and Graduation Walk – Including in this communication is information based on your last name (alpha), on who to call and when, to schedule your time to do this. We have tired to find times that best support our families as much as possible. These time will be on: Monday, June 1st ( 2Pm-7PM), Tuesday, June 2nd (2PM-7PM) and Wednesday June 3rd (8AM-4PM). Seniors will be allowed to bring four additional family members with them during their time. We ask that you come in your cap and gowns and already and you will be directed where to enter and how to proceed. We will be monitoring and maintaining social distancing protocols during these times. You are welcome to wear a mask, but is not required. We ask that you enter through the East Gym Hallway doors. You will then walk down the hall to the commons and walk across the school stage to receive your diploma. After, you will retrieve any awards and exit the building to take two additional photo opportunities outside. Someone will check you in and let you know when you should enter the building to do your graduation walk. Additionally, we ask that you not arrive more than 10 minutes prior to your time, to ensure the Social Distancing guidelines are adhered too.
Here are the following staff to contact to schedule your time to show up to the school with your family to do the Graduation Walk. We would ask that you call between the times of 10:00AM – 2:00PM to schedule your time starting Monday, May 11th. We need this completed by May 27th, so we know how to organize diplomas and materials for when our seniors arrive.
Angela Dennis (A – F) – 541-895-6038
Tristy DuFault (G – L) – 541-895-6025
Risa Bryant (M – Z) – 541-895-6027
We will also be handing students their diplomas and and senior awards / scholarships from the previous evening at that time. Once they have completed their walk, they will be guided to where they can pick up these items. We ask that you move as orderly and follow the directions provided, since we have several students and families we need to get through.
Graduation – Graduation will be a recorded event with all of the traditional elements of our graduation. We will have our senior speeches, key note speaker, and slide of senior photos, graduation walk, closing remarks, and the turning of the tassel. This video link will be emailed out to you on Friday, June 5th @ 7:00PM. You may then share that video link to all of you family and friends that you wish. The video link will also be posted on our school, district webpage, as well as social media platforms (twitter, instagram, Facebook) for those to access.
We want to thank you as we continue to work on a plan to celebrate this significant moment in your lives. We want to recognize and celebrate you best as possible during this crisis. We care deeply for all of you and hope to see you soon.
