Home » CHS Communication about Credit

Dear CHS Students & Families,

By this time, you have heard the news regarding schools being closed for the remainder of the year. We will be reaching out to each senior individually in the coming days to communicate exactly what this means for you and your graduation.

To recap that information, in short:

1) All schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year.

2) SENIORS: Seniors who were currently enrolled in a course AND passing at the time of the initial school closure on March 13th, will be awarded a “pass” and full (.5) credit for the course. For seniors who were not passing their classes on March 13th, we will support you to complete coursework to bring your grade up to passing. Once your grade reaches the “passing” status, we will award you a “Pass” and full (.5) credit for that class.

3) Freshman-Juniors: We are still awaiting guidance from the state on credits for grades 9-11. Those students should continue in the distance coursework that has been set up for them by their teachers and a schedule will be communicated out soon.

The full guidance from the state is here if you wish to wade through the full report: ODE Graduation Guidance

We will contact all seniors by Thursday, April 30th at the latest (but likely much sooner) to discuss your completion of the graduation requirements or what you still need to complete, with the plan to do so.

Please know that we are working hard and doing our best to make this transition as easy as possible for you. We are learning as we go and we know there will be bumps along the way to work out in this new distance learning. We promise that we will get better at this every day and every week – and look forward to working with all of you. I miss seeing you all, and hope you are staying safe and healthy!

Thank you for your patience!

Sincerely,

Adam Watkins
