Home » Welcome Back to School!

Families,

Welcome back to the 2019-20 school year! Things are running in full swing at Creslane Elementary School. Seeing all of our students back in class for the next academic year brought smiles to our faces. As the new principal I have felt the warmth and kindness from this community and I look forward to getting to know each of you over the coming year.

A few updates and reminders to communicate with you:

~We now have an Assistant Principal! Devin Pixton has accepted the position and will begin once her current position of Special Services Director at the district office gets filled. Our school has nearly 650 students and 80+ staff members and a long list of programs. Having her join the admin team will help us be more responsive to the needs of the students and staff. We expect this addition to have a positive impact on our school.

~“Like” our new Facebook page! Mrs. Halley and Ms. Devin will use this page to keep everyone up to date with timely information. https://www.facebook.com/Creslane-Elementary-School-748770378532396/

~The first PTO meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday, September 10th at 6pm in the school library. This month’s meeting will focus on the Jog-a-Thon. The PTO is hoping to raise enough money with this fundraiser to replace parts of the school playground.

~Arrival and Departure from school can be a busy time in our parking lot. Please follow the following guidelines:

  1. Use crosswalks whenever possible, especially with children. It is our hope to bring safety patrol back this year. In the meantime, please model safe behavior by using marked crossing paths.
  2. If using the parent pick-up line, stay in your vehicle and remind your children to look for you in that direction.
  3. Do not park on the grass or sidewalks. Cars need to be parked in designated spaces for the safety of everyone. Unfortunately, the parking lot is not large enough for more vehicles. Drivers will need to use street parking if the lot is full.
  4. We strongly encourage students to take advantage of the school buses. Carpooling helps clear congestion and it is very convenient.

At 2:00 Kindergarten students will be dismissed from class with their adults walking them out front. At 2:05 bus riders will begin dismissing to the busses and at 2:10 the rest of the school will be walking out with their teachers.

Parents one of my goals this year is to increase communication. You can expect me to send periodic emails, update the Facebook page, and website often. I’ve also planned four events for families to stop in to chat with me called “Coffee with the Principal”. Parents can drop in anytime from 8:00-9:00 in the school library and stay for as little or long as you’d like. This is an opportunity to come share ideas, hear about what is happening at school, and connect with other families in an informal get together. Mark your calendar for October 8, December 10, February 11, and April 14 if you are interested.

Have a great week!

Amy Halley, Principal
