Multi-Tiered System of Supports

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework that helps educators provide academic and behavioral strategies for students with various needs. MTSS grew out of the integration of two other intervention-based frameworks: Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).

Under the MTSS model, data is gathered and used to assess and provide students with instruction, support and interventions appropriate to their needs, ranging from Tier 1 interventions for the general student population through Tier 3 for individual students.
